About Dean R

In the course of the last 5 years, my wife and I lost both of our parents, which brought us closer together than we already were! We’ve been married 37 years. High school sweethearts. When I was 16 years old, I lost my right hand in a farming accident. I tend to be stubborn { ask my wife! } so I like to be as independent as possible, but there are things I need help with. My wife has always been there for me, so when we received the news on March 15 2019 that I had prostate cancer, she was my biggest cheerleader. We went to several appointments and finally decided on surgery to remove my prostate. I’m sure most everyone who is reading this knows the journey from May 3 to the present. I wasn’t prepared for the extend of the healing process, and the amount of help required, from emptying my catheter bag, changing gauze, helping me out of bed and making me healthy meals. I’m happy to say that my PSA level is undetectable, and I consider myself about 90% of where I was before surgery! It was a long road for me, but even longer for my wife!
