About Kristi P.

My father was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer in December 2013. He went through 3 rounds of Chemo, radiation and a treatment called Keytruda before he finally lost his battle and passed away in May 2018. While my whole family took part in taking care of him, it was my mother who was his care giver in the truest sense of the word. She quit her job to ensure she could spend his last years by his side, and provided round the clock care for him in the 2+ months he was on hospice care. He clung so tight to life even when death was eminent and she was so graceful in respecting his struggles while helping him to accept and move on. She was so dedicated to helping him find peace and comfort in his last months, even when the cancer spread to his brain and he became more and more difficult to care for. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of a care package than my mother. Since his passing, her whole world has changed from being a full time caregiver to trying to figure out her next steps in life.
