About Rachel B.

My dad was diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate cancer in October of 2014. He was told that year would be his last Christmas. He fought until November 17, 2018. We have always said he had 9 lives. He survived multiple car/motorcycle/boat crashes, being shot two different times, and being a soldier in Vietnam. Nothing could bring that man down. My mother took care of him through everything, but none of us could imagine the love and care she would have to put in with his cancer. Our family does not have a history of prostate cancer and it was determined that the cancer was from Agent Orange and they caught it too late. Our family watched our hero (the unbeatable man) get neuropathy (his legs would just give out), get sick daily, and finally become bed ridden. The whole time he was worried about us. My mother fought to keep him healthy and comfortable at home. She did everything a nurse would do for the love of her life. She would be a great choice for a care package. Every day, she has to learn to live without her other half. That pain will never go away.
