About Tamara Lotan, MD

Dr. Tamara Lotan is an associate professor of pathology and oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her area of clinical expertise is urologic pathology. Dr. Lotan received her medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her residency in anatomic pathology at the University of Chicago Hospitals and performed a fellowship in Urologic Pathology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Dr. Lotan is a urologic pathologist who studies how oncogenic signaling pathways regulate epithelial morphogenesis during embryonic development and tumorigenesis. Her basic research focuses on the role of PTEN/PI3K/mTOR signaling in a number of epithelial systems (prostate, breast and skin), and is principally directed towards understanding how these oncogenic signaling pathways affect epithelial differentiation, cell adhesion and migration using transgenic mouse models.
