1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but did you know that prostate cancer is highly treatable if detected early? September, National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, is the perfect time to share critical information on screening and prevention.

Whether you are trying to protect your own health or take care of the men in your life, early detection and screening is the key.  Here are five things you can do to honor yourself and those at risk.

  1. Know Your Risks!

Prostate cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among men, and over 34,000 men will die from prostate cancer in the U.S. in 2022. Yet it’s also one of the most treatable, and, in some cases, does not even require immediate treatment.

Early detection can be a game-changer. Risk factors for prostate cancer include family history, genetic factors, and race. Lifestyle and dietary habits can play a role as well. Take PCF’s quiz to find out when you should start screening for prostate cancer. It could save your life, or the life of someone you love.

  1. Sport Your Support

It’s fashion meets action! Get your free wristband in honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness month. Show your support of prostate cancer awareness and research by sporting the blue band. Available here

3. An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure

At PCF, we want to keep you and your whole family safe.  Did you know that over 30% of cancer is preventable with certain lifestyle changes? Take on one (or both!) of our Get Healthy challenges this September, and register for the webinar on Physical and Mental Wellness with PCF CEO Dr. Charles J. Ryan on September 20.

  1. Don’t DIY Your Prostate Exam!

Are you the kind of guy who likes to DIY? Celebrity ambassador Dax Shepard is that guy too… but will he draw the line at a DIY prostate cancer exam?  Watch and share this funny video from Dax and PCF to help raise awareness of prostate cancer.

  1. Spread the Word

Want to support prostate cancer awareness in your community or at your office?
